World, meet The Great Horror Campout!
What is The Great Horror Campout?
According to the website, The Great Horror Campout (GHC) is a “choose your own adventure” overnight, interactive camping experience. Basically, you pay to camp and choose how extreme you want to participate, whether you want a full experience or play it safe in the “chicken zone.” The event lasts 12 hours (8 PM – 8 AM) and no one under the age of 18 is allowed. According to the website, campers find themselves confronting every fear that haunted them as children.
If you read the safety and terms portion of the website, it tells you that your experience may include “total darkness, water spray and splash, uneven surfaces, steps up and down, strobe lighting, latex, narrow tunnels, crouch spaces which require you to bend down while walking, sudden loud noises, live scareactors, fog and scent effects which are all intended to startle and frighten you. The disclaimer also states that: you may be forcibly handled, moved, bound, hooded, chained and subjected to simulated torture. You may witness strong verbal content, which may be considered offensive in nature.

What People Are Saying
I watched several Youtube videos of people reacting to their night at The Great Horror Campout. They were all the same. This event is freaky! In one, this big guy went camping with his three friends. In the middle of the night they were woken up by creepy hillbillies, the hillbillies forced the friends to tie their 4th friend up, then they were forced to leave him bound and gagged in the woods. Apparently the hillbillies came back to untie and un-gag him…30 to 40 minutes later.
Another talked about how they were woken up in the middle of the night by a screaming girl that somehow got into their tent.
There is a safety phrase you can use if it becomes too much. And it’s “I want my mommy.” But from some of the reviews I’ve listened to, the safeword was ignored.
Look them up. They are entertaining at the very least to watch.
