Creepy Music Playlist

Okay, so Christmas music is already, shall we say, around. And you might know that I am a Christmas music lovah through and through. But this is October, right? This is the month for creepy, not jolly. For scaring, not caring. Fine. I admit it. I've listened to a carol or two recently. But whatever, my point is it's time to break out the creepy music playlist. I've compiled some spooky tunes. Haunting and chill-inducing were my criteria for making the cut. Take a listen and see what you think. Note: If you watched America Horror Story: Freak Show last night,[...]

Top Scare Flash Fiction Winner & October Contest

Wow, the results for September's Top Scare Flash Fiction contest were horrifying! Bravo to all participants. Here are a few of my favorite lines: Jenna When my mom pledged, it was one of these bendy sisters that grabbed her hand and yanked it the second she slid it through the mail slot. But Mom didn’t scream and neither will I. Shelli Howells Her shuffle carried a little more energy as she made it back to the house. She took a seat on the sofa and with shaking hands tore open the envelope. “I’m watching you.” Kathy Palm My fingers tug at the plasti[...]

Halloween Memories and Tragic Tales

When I was a kid, my uncle and aunt threw FANTASTICAL Halloween parties. They lived (still live) on a wooded mountain in Maryland. It was my very favorite place to go. I'd stay at their house as often as my parents would allow it. (I would have moved there completely, but don't tell my mom because her feelings would probably be hurt.) My uncle first got me into horror movies when I was probably 7 or 8.  They were the old horror movies that started with "The". Y'know, The Fog. The Thing. We'd eat chocolate chips and raisins, mixed in just the right ratio in our m[...]
