Happy Birthday Jenna Lehne!

Jenna is not only a PitchWars mentor, she's a writer, spooky aficionado, and a fun person who gives a lot to other people. Today, we're celebrating her birthday in style with a little haunted house party. We've invited all the ghosts and ghouls, so get ready! That's right. Grab a skull goblet and a few finger appetizers, and let's start to party it up! Jenna, my sweet friend, I hope that this year around the sun is the best yet! You deserve all wonderful things and I see happiness, words, and lots of coffee in your future. I'm so glad that we're friends and[...]

BLOG TOUR: Dead Voices by Katherine Arden

The only thing better than a spooky book, is a spooky ghost book! Anyone who knows me, knows I live for ghost stories of any variety, which is why I'm thrilled to participate in the Dead Voices blog tour from Penguin Random House. Since I am a huge fan of good middle grade horror, it should be no surprise that I was a huge fan of Small Spaces, Katherine Arden's first book in this series. You know Small Spaces. The one that horror dreamboat RL Stine called "Terrifying and fun." True story. I love how this book starts off. It's the middle of a snow storm and anyo[...]

Let’s Talk About Scary

We've all heard it, read it on social media...possibly said it... Don't go see that horror movie. It isn't scary. It bothers me that a vague comment can send us spiraling into doubt. We get sad and disappointed before we even see it, and who needs that? I posted on FB that I was super excited to go see the new movie Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Someone commented, informing me that her teenage girls saw it and said it wasn't scary, so she wasn't going to waste her time. CUE THE BIGGEST SIGH. I have been looking forward to this movie. I STILL WANT to see[...]

Midnight Society Movie Night: Pet Sematary

Welcome to August, and a new month means a new live-tweet with me! Let's watch the 2019 version of Pet Sematary for...     Written by Jeff Buhler and directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, Pet Sematary, a second adaptation of Stephen King's 1983 novel, hit theaters earlier this year. If you read my last post, you know I wasn't going to go. Then I did. And I loved it. A tale of grief, desperation, and family as Louis fights for the life of his daughter. Death, a bit of murder, a little grave robbing, and plenty of creepy have me excited to[...]
