2019 In Review: Bookish Goals and All My Failures

As I write this, it's December 30th, 2019. I put on some ambient sounds this morning, curled up with with my cat and a piping hot mug of coffee, and reflected on my year in 2019. I accomplished a lot of what I wanted. I also failed a good amount. I don't usually set New Year's goals, but at the beginning of the year I did. The 2019 film, directed by Sophia Takal, and written by Takal and April Wolfe, is the second remake of the 1974 movie Black Christ[...]

Christmas Midnight Society Movie Night: Gremlins and Krampus

Tis the season for happiness and lights and love and...horror! You betcha. I shall continue my tradition of live-tweeting two movies this month, because Christmas time demands it. For a special Midnight Society Movie nights, let's watch Gremlins and Krampus. There's nothing like Christmas horror. Even the season of hope has a dark side.   First, let's watch the chaos unfold as rules are broken and terror invades a town in Gremlins. This 1984 film written by Chris Columbus and directed by Joe Dante delighted me as a child. From adorable Gizmo to terrif[...]
