Greetings From the Hollywood Tower Hotel!

20160626_194714Hey kids, my post this week is a bit different since I’ve been at Disney World all week with the family. I did manage to squeeze in a bit of horror though, when we visited Disney Hollywood Studios. For it’s at that park where there is a monument to my favorite television show of all time, The Twilight Zone.

The Twilight Zone Tower of terror is a ride centered around a haunted elevator. Unlike a lot of other freefall rides, this one is actually pulled down at a speed of almost 40mph by cables attached to the bottom of the elevators. It also bobs back up, and shutters on the hotel windows open to give you a view of the outside park from over 100 feet up.

But my favorite part of the ride is everything leading up the actual elevator drop. The hotel itself is littered with references to The Twilight Zone, and once you get into your cart, it actually moves around the hotel, as Rod Serling (voiced by Mark Silverman) narrates. There are also clips of Serling shows that are put together from previous Twilight Zone episodes to form the intro to the ride. It’s awesome.

I couldn’t get any video, but you can watch the intro movie from the California version of the ride below.

Needless to say, if you visit Disney Hollywood Studios, it’s a must-see ride. Disney actually made a movie called Tower of Terror in 1997, starring Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man) and Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy). Check out the trailer below.

I LOVED that ride! From wandering through the line to the fall itself, everything made me squeal with delight!
