Horror movies are my favorite thing. Ever. Watching scary movies with friends is a luxury I lack, so each month I live-tweet a tale of terror to share my love of the dark and weird with everyone. This month for our Midnight Society Movie Night…let’s watch Winchester! Join me, horror friends, for a night of ghosts!
Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig and written by the Spierigs and Tom Vaughn, the story is inspired by the legend of Sarah Winchester and her unique house.
I saw this one in the theater and had a great time! You can read my thoughts about the movie, the legend, and the real life of Sarah Winchester, in my previous post Let’s Talk Horror Movies: Winchester.
An interesting take on the legend that has overshadowed the reality of this fabulous woman, this movie is creepy and fun and might make you want to go visit the actual house. I say might, but I am dying to go there. A beautiful and haunting place, the house becomes a character in the movie, for filming happened at the site of this fantastic house.
I loved watching the story unfold and how it all tied together. Creepy images will linger in your mind. A story of revenge, of letting go, of exploring the darker side of life. Emotions will play, perhaps tug at yours. I bought the DVD weeks ago and haven’t watched it yet, so that makes it the perfect movie for my live-tweet.
Write me in on your calendar. Make sure you have snacks. Get comfy and join me on Twitter, #MidnightSocietyMovieNight and #WinchesterMovie on Friday, June 29th at 9 EST! Tweet with me as we delve into the house of strange rooms, interesting staircases, and the awesomeness of Sarah Winchester as she faces a non-believer and battles a ghost.
