Terrifying Tots

Morning, Kittens.   As most of you know, children are kind of disgusting. They grow INSIDE another person, FFS. They come into the world screaming and covered in goop, and that's just the beginning.  Now don't get me wrong, I love my tiny human. He is my teenie best friend and I wouldn't trade one second with him for the world. But he is, for lack of a better word, a little bit gross. Some of my favourite horror movies of all time are speckled with creepy kidlets. So in honour of Thanksgiving and kids everywhere, here are some terrifying tots I'm thankfu[...]

Friday the 13th

Hello Kittens,   Welcome back to our corner of the graveyard.I had originally planned to blog about thirteen little tidbits about the actual day, Friday the 13th, but I couldn't get a certain man out of my head. Damn you, Jason Voorhees. So instead I'm just going to give you thirteen facts about Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise. Here we go!   1. Victor Miller, the creator of Jason Voorhees, named the killer after his two sons, Josh and Ian. How freaking cool of a story is that to tell your friends on the playground. 2. Camp Cryst[...]

Slasher Week: Females are Strong as Hell

Hello Kittens,   Happy Slasher Week!! Like my fellow bloggers, I'm a giant fan of slasher horror. I grew up hiding underneath my blankets, thinking the soft cotton would guard me from Freddy's claws. I know that if you're afraid of something in your house, you run outside...not upstairs. While I was terrified of these killers, I respected them. As I grew up, I developed a fondness for a certain type of crazed killer. Females. Nothing gave me the chills quite like a kind, motherly type cutting someone's throat. So, in honor of Slasher Week, I give you my[...]

They’re coming…

Hello Kittens, As you may have noticed, it's GHOST WEEK!!   Now I love Ghosts. I love ghost movies (still undecided on the Poltergeist remake), ghostly books, and especially ghost-hunting reality TV shows. My favourite ghost hunting show of them all is GHOST ADVENTURES. If you're unfamiliar with the show, it follows ghost hunting trio Zak, Nick, and Aaron as they check out the world's most haunted locations. These dudes are all over the states, Europe, and even Japan! Each episode starts with a local history, interviews, and a run down of the place. Th[...]

The Tale of the Reoccurring Goblin

Hello, kittens.   We all have that one story we like to tell at parties. You know the one I'm talking about. It usually starts with "It happened to a  friend of a friend of mine..." They're usually just trendy retellings of our favourite urban legends. They're supposed to capture your attention in between drink refills, not scare you. I never thought any of them were true...until I heard the story of the goblins. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story "The Tale of the Reoccurring Goblin".     I remember it l[...]

What are you afraid of?

When I was growing up, the main question on the playground was "What are you afraid of?"  I was afraid of the usual things; the dark, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, etc. My friends were afraid of spiders and snakes. I remember thinking that they obviously didn't know what a zombie gnawing on a torn limb looked like, otherwise that'd be on their lists too.   I also thought that as I grew up, my list of fears would slowly but surely shrink. Instead, it grew. The thing about fear is that it's unlike any other emotion out there. It doesn't just go away. It g[...]
