Suspiria

The year is 1977, and filmmaker Luciano Tovoli has created a masterpiece of horror cinematography. Don't believe me? Check this out...   It may be difficult to discern what this film is about, because the trailer leaves a lot to be imagined. This film is about, "An American newcomer to a prestigious German ballet academy comes to realize that the school is a front for something sinister amid a series of grisly murders."   The remake, coming to theaters November 2018, stars Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, and star of the original film J[...]

Midnight Society Movie Night: Winchester

Horror movies are my favorite thing. Ever. Watching scary movies with friends is a luxury I lack, so each month I live-tweet a tale of terror to share my love of the dark and weird with everyone. This month for our Midnight Society Movie Night...let's watch Winchester! Join me, horror friends, for a night of ghosts! Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig and written by the Spierigs and Tom Vaughn, the story is inspired by  the legend of Sarah Winchester and her unique house. I saw this one in the theater and had a great time! You can read my thoughts about the[...]

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes are Coming! The Midnight Society Makeover.

We celebrated something special this year. You probably saw the post, but on March 17, 2018, The Midnight Society turned four years old! So many blogs don't last a year. I remember when I dreamt up the idea, I was certain that no one would care and certainly no one would want to join...I love it when I'm wrong. Currently we have 9 incredible contributors, over 110,000 unique all time views, and a dedicated readership that we so appreciate. To celebrate, we are re-vamping the site. Soon you will notice a new look for The Midnight Society, new events, and a new[...]

The Frogs of May

It had rained for the past nine days in the Sunshine State.  Torrents of water, buckets of it, had poured down.  The days had been soggy.  The nights had been filled with thunder and wind. And frogs. The unending rains have driven them into a frenzy.  Tree frogs called in screechy wails, like fingernails scratching down a blackboard, over and over. Each night it got louder.  The swamp behind May's house vibrated with it.  It drove her cat crazy. May thought a storm woke her.  But the frogs had drowned out the thunder.  Each chorus sounded like they w[...]

Little Evil- The Perfect Little Horror Movie

Only on Netflix can you find a horror movie that includes a big dose of humor. Seriously, this is a MUST watch! I mean, how could you not get sucked in to an opening scene that includes the biggest horror trope ever...pouring rain and an evil little boy? Not your typical antichrist, Lucas does hate his step-father, but there's a problem...it won't be that easy. His step-father actually wars against himself between wanting to kill Lucas and hoping to teach him to be a good person. There are a lot of nods toward popular horror movies--along with a few[...]

A sinister Problem has occurred in London: all nature of ghosts, haunts, spirits, and specters are appearing throughout the city, and they aren't exactly friendly. Only young people have the psychic abilities required to see—and eradicate—these supernatural foes. Many different Psychic Detection Agenc[...]

Horror is in the Eye of the Beholder

My day was filled with body horror. I was taking an online first aid course.  I was expecting a review of CPR and how to use an AED machine.  But the first aid section was the stuff of horror movies: shockingly graphic and so, so bloody. The wound care module opened with an arm so lacerated, they could’ve been fighting off Jason Voorhees and a freshly sharpened machete.  But the eye module was worse.  I now know the proper first aid if you have your eyelid sliced off.  Not just cut open, so your eye socket fills with blood and you need stitches.  No[...]

Time Again to Talk About Dolls

It's been a long time since I've talked about everyone's favorite scary thing...DOLLS! I swear, every month or so Pinterest bombards me with countless photos of DIY projects involving dolls. As much as they creep everyone out, I LOVE IT! While I don't think I'll be making these anytime soon, it has little to do with the concept and more about the availability of these little gems. So, I figured I'd share my updated Doll Pinterest board with you. And seriously guys...PLEASE send pics of ANYTHING you make. https://www.pinterest.com/kissedbyink/dolls/   xoxo[...]

Ghost’s “Rats” Is a Love Letter to 60s, 70s and 80s Horror Flicks

https://youtu.be/C_ijc7A5oAc Isn't it magnificent? Man, I love Ghost. Earlier this month, the band released the first video for their upcoming Prequelle album, which will be arriving on June 1st. If you don't follow Ghost, you are missing out on the wonderful theatrics and lore Ghost builds around everything they do. I'll do another post about Cardinal Copia and his backstory alter, but for now, let's just bask in the awesomeness that is "Rats." Not only does this song have a distinct early 80s Ozzy Osboure feel, but it also feels like it could be off the sound[...]
