The Horror Of Being Forgotten

As writers, each of us at The Midnight Society have our own reasons for doing what we do. As an escape, to explore new worlds, to make a statement about things going on in the world. However, I’d venture to say that every one of us writes so we can leave a legacy after we’ve gone. And my discovery of photographer Vivian Maier made me reflect on an artist's legacy. In love and death: Lizzie Siddal

This story happens by lamplight, under a copse of trees and at the top of a steep hill, predictably under the cover of night when only the most nefarious deeds are done. But for a chunk of the horror-appreciating demographic, it's also a month-long celebration of Women in the Horror industry. To commemorate that bad girls of dark fiction, a few women who kickass at the dark stuff, I've collected a few of my favourite blogs who focus on writing horror, reading horror, and watching horror films. If you visit the Women in Horror Month website,[...]

Horrific Post-Its by John Kenn Mortensen

I have this weird love for Post-Its. I think it might be one of those writer things combined with just my normal weirdness. But then I found these and I flipped out. Artist John Kenn Mortensen lets his imagination slither onto Post-Its in the form of monsters, ghosts, and other creeptastic things! When I started oogling these art pieces, I felt like he'd reached into my head and drew things from the darkest corners of my mind. I want them. All of them. Check them out! These are all done on Post-It's people! How amazing are these?! I especially like the one a[...]
