Midnight Society Movie Night: Gretel and Hansel

Welcome to July! Wait…July? WELL OKAY! I shall announce my live-tweet movie pick. Let’s watch Gretel and Hansel. Don’t you just love…

Movie poster for the 2020 horror film Gretel and Hansel

Written by Rod Hayes and directed by Oz Perkins, the 2020 horror film Gretel and Hansel was inspired by the German tale Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm.

Did you see this?

I did!

I went to the theater…oh, how I miss the theater. This might have been the last movie I saw in those creaky fold-down seats with my very large bucket of popcorn. I’ll hold onto hope that I will get to go back to the theater. Someday…soon…maybe…

Until then, there’s always movies at home! And the opportunity to watch with all my horror friends everywhere.

While I didn’t think the story was completely there…I really liked this movie. Visually stunning. Great atmosphere. Great characters. And themes that made you think. Of standing up for yourself. Fighting to survive. Of finding your power, whether it be dark or light or a bit of both. Of letting go to be your true self.

Anyone up for a journey into fairytale land? Maybe this will help…

I can’t wait to watch it again!

Join me on Twitter Friday, July 31st at 9 pm EST for the live tweet of Gretel and Hansel. Bring snacks. Turn the lights out. Watch with me…or simply enjoy all my reactions and thoughts on #MidnightSocietyMovieNight and #GretelandHansel.

Cheers and nightmares,

Kathy
