Book Review: I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells

TLDR: I Am Not a Serial Killer is amazing and I would probably sell organs to get the rest of the books in the series, if there was a short supply. Long version: The name Dan Wells kept popping up on all of the Goodreads lists that I searched. It's usually of the dark variety, such as murder or serial killers, etc. I had skimmed a few reviews of I Am Not a Serial Killer for about ten seconds and many of them weren't positive. There didn't seem to be any complaints about his writing or pacing or storyline. Actually, people seemed to sing his writing praises. Mos[...]

The spirits are swirling in excitement today because one magical person was born today and the universe and its otherworldly entities are celebrating! Happy Birthday Mary Rajotte! We got together with the ghosts and planned a little celebration. Don't forget the Ouija board! Mary, you are so kind, clever, and uber talented! Really, it's not fair to the rest of us but we forgive you. After all, we couldn't live (or haunt) without you. My gift to you is a few relaxation bath bombs from The Mad Bombers. I'm not sure how it works digitally, but you're smart,[...]

I have some many creepy reads that honestly, I probably couldn't keep track if it wasn't for Goodreads and its To-Read list feature. I thought I'd share some of my favorite books that are awaiting to be read. I know it's July but in my head, it's always autumn. Also, right now, most of these are on sale too, so I've included buy links.     Lana used to know what was real. That was before when her life was small and quiet. Her golden step-brother, Ben, was alive, she could only dream about bonfiring with the populars, their wooded island home was[...]

It sounds like some  scary movie or some spooky urban legend (perfect for urban legend month this month), but sometimes real life is all the scarier. The Watcher house is very real. And very scary. So, I checked out These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly at my local library, and holy crow, it is SO GOOD that I am completely obsessed with it. I don't want to eat or go to work or really do anything at all except read this book! I'm not even done yet but I've already bought my own copy to keep and the first book in her Waterfire saga YA series Deep Blue to start when I'm done with this. These Shallow Graves has everything I was looking for: a murder mystery, romance, high stakes, more murder, more romance, mystery mystery mystery, girls doing what they s[...]

Slash-In-The-Box – A Deadly Children’s Toy Short Film

You know me--I love spooky shorts. I mentioned before that one of my favorites is The Smiling Man. I've posted the story here and the short creepy film inspired by it here. Today I found another horror short that horrified me in the most wonderful way. I will forever hear Pop Goes the Evil, instead of Pop Goes the Weasel, when that creepy kid's song plays. The scary short is called Slash-In-The-Box by Nick Everhart, and it's a disturbing new look at a very standard children's toy...enjoy! Slash-In-The-Box from NICK EVERHART[...]

Happy Holi!

Happy Holi! Holi is a traditional Hindu festival, originating in India, that dates back into the 4th century. The timing of Holi is synchronized with the moon, so the dates vary each year, in accordance with lunar cycles. It is a two day festival; the first day is known as Holika Dahan and the second day is known as Rangwali Holi. This year, Rangwali Holi takes place today, March 13th, while the pyres of Holika Dahan were burned yesterday. Holika Dahan is set up the night before the big day. People gather for a purification ritual where a pyre of logs and du[...]
