Let’s Watch Horror Movies…Christmas Edition

I love horror movies! I love to live-tweet them too! Once a month, precious, I tweet all my thoughts and feelings as I watch a scary movie. I didn't know how much fun it would be. To be able to watch it with others makes it more fun. Through Twitter, we can connect over our love of the creepy. Last month my horror friend Andrea and I had a BLAST live-tweeting the movie Lights Out. Neither one of us had seen it, so it was a lot of great first reactions. I haven't been so scared watching a movie in a loooooong time. I held my breath through most of it, but you bette[...]

Night Terrors…the Game

Months ago, Midnighter Kim posted on FB about a new game to play on your phone. Night Terrors. Go read that article here. Now...the game is up. You can buy it for $.99. So I did. WHY NOT IT SOUNDS SCARY AND FUN! After the game was available, I grabbed my phone and went to the App Store...typed in Night Terrors and got this... The description says... And I am quoting! Lights off. Headphones on. Survive. Question reality. Face your fears. Explore the paranormal. Night Terrors will attack every one of your senses in an effort to deliver the most heart-thumpin[...]

The Legend of The Midnight Society

It's folklore and legends week in our month long #SocietyScreams horror bash! So I offer a tale...a true tale. Although less well-known than The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, this story of ghosts and death will soon spread across the world.     The Legend of The Midnight Society   Three days after joining The Midnight Society, you die. Death comes in strange ways. Sometimes the form of your worst fear, other times when you are immersed in what you love. Reenacting a scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Don’t use a real stake. Your spirit animal,[...]

Horror Coming Soon to a TV Near You

I LOVE TV, especially horror on TV. I always have. Every fall brings new seasons of shows I love, but also NEW SHOWS! Oh, the possibilities! Sure they could suck. Sure they could get canceled even though I love them. Sure ALL THE THE WAYS WE COULD BE DISAPPOINTED... But. BUT. They could be awesome. These shiny new shows could stick around forever and keep our horror-loving little hearts all full of sparkly darkness and blood pumping creepiness. Four brand spankin' scary (hopefully!) new shows caught my attention. The SyFy channel brings three of the four.[...]

Let’s Watch a #Horror Movie…The Cabin in the Woods

That's right! My choice of movie to live-tweet this month is one of Amy's (one of our Midnighters) favorites!   I watched The Cabin in the Woods because Amy told me to. Basically. And why wouldn't I want to? This 2012 horror/comedy was written by Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and produced by Joss Whedon. Dude. This movie made me laugh, cringe, and sent my horror-loving heart all aflutter. SO LET'S WATCH IT TOGETHER! We'll follow five college friends... As they go on a little vacation to a deserted cabin deep in the woods. It[...]

Birthday Time. X-Files Style.

Today, we celebrate our fearless, fantastical, creeptastical leader. IT'S JOLENE'S BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! So we are prepared to... Well, maybe not DIE...unless some strange thing happens on this glorious day of death flavored cake and fear infused ice cream...like... Creepy, possessed dolls...     Odd lights in the sky...     Or our bodies being taken over by goo...   Have no fear, we will call the best to help make sure your birthday is not ruined by the weird, scary, or other-worldly.   When this guy shows[...]

Let’s Watch a #Horror Movie…The Possession

It's that time again, where I announce the horror movie I will live tweet for this month! Because if you're like me, you don't have any friends who like to have their minds assaulted by creepiness. And this is wrong. So let's watch... The Possession Meet Clyde and Stephanie. Formerly married, now living apart and sharing custody of their two daughters. Emily "Em" and Hannah. Who are not so thrilled to be staying with their dad. At a garage sale, Em finds a wooden box with Hebrew writing. She's drawn to it. She wants it. Her father buys it for her. But t[...]

Salem…Witches and History and Fun, Oh My!

I got home from vacation and wanted to share a little day trip we took to Salem. Yes, Salem, Massachusetts...yup, the place of the horrific witch trials. A city dripping with history. The old buildings still stand, making it a neat place to visit. Because of time, I didn't get to see everything. Dude, I didn't even know about the everything there was to see. Note: Give yourself an entire day to see Salem. I thought it would be a cool place to see, but more than that, a fascinating place to just be. I wanted to walk the streets, to set foot where such terrible an[...]

Let’s Watch a Horror Movie…Pan’s Labyrinth

Happy July, horror movie watching friends! It's time to announce the movie I will be live-tweeting this month. I hope everyone can join me and add your tweets to the mix. This one is a good one. YES! Guillermo del Toro's dark fantasy! Dark fantasy, Kathy? I thought we were going to watch a horror movie?!!?!?! Don't worry, there is plenty of creepiness in this show to qualify it as a horror flick. First, meet Ofelia. She's special. This is her story of how she must fight to save herself and her mother. Her imagination takes her on a journey of self-discov[...]
