And then surprise you by doing something unexpected…
In the end, after all the investigations, after all the blood has been cleaned, the goo removed, the aliens flying off into the starry sky… remember…

Happy Birthday, Jolene! It was maybe not the best idea to let Kathy go first (who wants to follow up her gifs?) but we’re all going to try and follow that up.
Our little group of creepy monsters has really grown over the years, and it’s all thanks to you. You work so hard. You come up with these ideas that scare the rest of us, and you dive right in–a true horror movie survivor, you are. I hope this year holds many amazing things for you, you deserve them all.

Jolene Haley deserves more than one day a year in which we celebrate her and give her gifts. Because Jolene is a gift to all of us. She is a never-ending source of positivity and inspiration to those of us who are lucky enough to know her.
Jolene’s superpower is bringing creative people together. You see it here at the Midnight Society, you see it with the creator showcases she has organized, and you see it with the communities that form around her on Twitter. Jolene’s enthusaism, supportiveness and cheerleading are infectious. She makes the people around her better people.
I am much luckier than most, because I get to create with Jolene. And let me tell you, however much fun you imagine that is–it’s a thousand times more fun than that. Working with Jolene has made me a better writer. But more importantly, creating worlds, characters and stories with her is the most fun I’ve ever had writing. And we are just getting started.
So I want to wish a very happy birthday to my partner in crime, my horror twin, the awesome Jolene Haley.
