Well, the month of love is almost gone. I’ve eaten more than enough chocolate, but there won’t be much of a break in that department…my supermarket is already full of mini eggs and chocolate carrots (arguably the best kind of carrot).
I’ve thought a lot about what I wanted my post to be about…I revisited some of my favourite horror ships (Cat and Casper, anyone??), dwelled on flicks that show us real love (ODD THOMAS, *happy sigh*), but I wasn’t feeling the urge to write about any of that…While I wanted to stick with the theme of love, I wanted to write about someone I loved instead.
This someone is fucking amazing.
This someone does SO much behind the scenes, and doesn’t get nearly the credit she deserves.
She is supportive. She is thoughtful. She is hilarious.
Though she has foul, dark corners to her mind, her heart is pure and genuine.
She is our fearless leader.
She is the one, the only, Ms. Jolene Haley.
(I want to smoosh your face)
I wouldn’t be here, filling up your mobile screen, if it weren’t for this brilliant woman. None of us would be. Not only is Jolene the founder of The Midnight Society, but she has her own publishing imprint and an AMAZING magazine too.
Not only does she bust her ass at work, manage her projects, but she’s a kick ass writer too! She and our very own Brian LeTendre co-wrote an amazing novel called HARROWED. If you haven’t heard about it, I’m clearly not doing a good enough job expressing my love for it. It is amazing.
I have never met someone like Jolene before. She has made me smile from the first time we tweeted back and forth (about my son’s dresser haha). Over the past months, she has become a true friend. When my writing career took a bit of a twist, she was the first person I reached out too. She instantly flooded my text messages with love, support, and half-naked pictures of David Gandy. I literally do not know what I would do without her in my life.
So Jolene, I know I speak for all of us at the Midnight Society when I say you are amazing. You are valued. You are so, so appreciated.
I love you more than I love Dr. Strand….and that’s saying something.
Oh! Before I forget – tune in March 7th for my twitter book chat about SHALLOW GRAVES by Kali Wallace.
And buy Jolene and Brian’s book!
