The Killer in Me

I have always had a deep fascination with serial killers. So let me stop you right now and tell you that if you have any book recommendations for me based off this information, to go straight to the comments and tell me what to read. I devour anything involving them, mainly non-fiction, but that’s because there used to not be a ton of serial killer books in the young adult category. In fact, we've talked about serial killers on this blog too, one of my favorites being the post on the true story of HH Holmes and the Murder Castle (which is terrible and awful and[...]

Welcome New Member Mary Rajotte!

Another spirit has arrived in the graveyard after we played a little too hard with the Ouiji board that Faith brought to our last meeting. We regret that we killed Mary but only a little because she's a delightful spirit to add to our bunch. Mary actually already has a post live, because she's cool like that, but just in case you don't already know her, here's a little bit more about her. ***** Welcome Mary! Colonies of bats across Canada left their bell towers with a mournful flourish the day Mary Rajotte passed from this earth. Her Cancerian nature lent h[...]

Happy Happy Birthday Kathy!!!!

Happy happy birthday Kathy! The spirit and the fairies are swirling and dancing around, celebrating you out in the graveyard as we speak. They mentioned something about the curse being broken with this birthday, but I'm not entirely sure what that means. We love Kathy for so many reasons. For one, she's the GIF queen. Don't believe me? Follow her on Twitter (you're welcome in advance). She's also an incredible writer. You can read her free scary story Crimson Reality here, you can follow her blog, and you can add her upcoming novel DOORS on Goodreads. The s[...]

And we're so excited to be able to celebrate by throwing her this digital baby shower. Jenna, we know you have all the essentials but we figured you might need some of these... Happy Birthday Faith McKay!

It's a wonderful day when we get to celebrate Faith McKay. Why? Because she's amazing. No wait, she's more than amazing. In fact, I'm not sure there's a word to properly explain just how amazing Faith is. Which is why we wanted to party together to celebrate her. Her birthday was over the weekend but we feel like she should have the whole week. Don't you agree? If you don't know Faith, you are doing yourself a grave disservice. Not only is she a genius author of the Lacuna Valley series, Deadly Diva series, and the new Stolen Magic series. You can find her on[...]

Horror Origins: Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco (aka Camp Crystal Lake)

December's theme for the midnight society is horror origins / creepers of horror. I'm a huge fan of knowing film locations and with this months theme, I wondered where one of my favorite slasher flicks, Friday the 13th might have been filmed.   Friday the 13th and the saga of Jason Vorhees is one of my all time favorites. In fact, I also really love the filming location. It has the beautiful lake, a very camp-y feel, and is surrounded by beautiful trees and wildlife. I did a little digging and uncovered the fact that Camp Crystal Lake is a real place and[...]

A Very Macabre Christmas

I love Christmas. But I love the idea of a gothic Christmas more. When Nightmare Before Christmas became a thing, it spurred a ton of fantastic, whimsical, dark Christmas celebrations that I adore. Most of you know that I'm a huge Pinterest and page 20 Google digger so I wanted to share with you all, a few of my favorite macabre Christmas decorating ideas for the holidays. If you don't celebrate Christmas, I think most of these ideas can easily be tweaked to reflect what you are celebrating. Found here. Found here. Found here. Found here. Found[...]
