IT CAME IN THE MAIL: NIGHT OF THE CREEPS DELUXE LIMITED EDITION

I am not really one for collector's editions, which is mostly because I do not have room in my dork cave for any more stuff. But I do make exceptions, and when I saw there was a Night of the Creeps Deluxe Limited Edition, I pre-ordered it faster than you can "Thrill me!" Today, it arrived--and it's beautiful: I'm a big fan of the original artwork, but this new slipcase with art from Devon Whitehead is just gorgeous. And of course, the two-disc set with both the theatrical and director's cut, as well as tons of extras is great. But let's be honest--the reason I b[...]

Today Was a Really Good Day at CT HorrorFest

I tried to think of a clever title for this post, but I'm exhausted, and honestly, that title pretty much sums it up. See, i spent the day at CT HorrorFest, which is my favorite show of the year. Not only is it a fantastic celebration of horror, but the show is put together by my friends at the Horror News Network, who are some of the nicest and most genuine people I am lucky enough to know. Each year I go to their show and hang out all day talking about horror and music with anyone that passes my table. Occasionally I will sell some books as well, but I've never[...]

The Best Birthday Gift Ever–HARROWED!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again--Jolene Haley is amazing. And this past week, she gave me the best birthday present ever--a print proof of our book Harrowed. If you follow Jolene or I at all, then you know we're hard at work on getting Haunted (the second book in the Woodsview Murders series) ready for release. But Harrowed will always be our first love, and we still have big plans for our first book, and one of those plans is a print edition. Jolene and I had talked about the print version, and had done some preliminary work (or so I thought) on forma[...]

Interview: Jolene Haley and Brian LeTendre

Hello, Darlings!!   I am SO thrilled to have our very own Horror Twins, Brian LeTendre and Jolene Haley, on the blog today! They graciously let me feast on their brains about their books, both past and upcoming. So I'll stop boring you and just hop right in!   How did you two start writing together in the first place? Brian: I was lucky enough to participate in a few of the Pen & Muse writing showcases (Dark Carnival and Haunt), and I was a big fan of Jolene's because she's such a positive force in the writing community. I asked her to be a gu[...]

5 Tips to Writing Horror for NaNoWriMo

Currently for NaNoWriMo, Brian and I are writing our new series, ORCHARD POINTE #1. Without giving too much away (though Brian did give away a few more hints today...that's right Brian. I see you.), it’s a young adult novel series that was inspired by some of our favorite creepy movies and novels and television shows and our HUGE imaginations. Currently we are sitting over 30,000 words, and if I’m being honest, it’s mainly due to the unwavering dedication of my incredible writing partner Brian LeTendre. I am so proud of our book. I really can't explain it o[...]

October #MidnightBooks: Harrowed

Our very own Jolene Haley teamed up with Brian LeTendre to write Woodsview Murders #1: Harrowed. Let's celebrate by reading it together! Synopsis Journalism Rule #1: Always report the story. Never become the story. Avery Blair has accepted the fact that nothing exciting ever happens in her small town of Woodsview, Massachusetts. As the editor of the high school blog, she prays for something–anything–to come along that would make for a great headline. When Beatrice Thompson’s body is found in the girls’ bathroom, Avery has her biggest story ever. The ru[...]

Harrowed is Here! #WoodsviewMurders

Journalism Rule #1: Always report the story. Never become the story. Avery Blair has accepted the fact that nothing exciting ever happens in her small town of Woodsview, Massachusetts. When Beatrice Thompson’s body is found in the girls’ bathroom, Avery has her biggest story ever. The rumors circulating the school say that Beatrice took her own life, but Avery doesn't believe it for a second. Her instincts prove true when the next[...]

Birthdays and Serial Killers and Books! Oh My!

Today is a very special day, because today is the creator of The Midnight Society's birthday! That's right, it's the anniversary of Jolene Haley's entrance to this realm. One month from now, on September 22nd, you'll be able to read the very first novel in The Woodsview Murders series, Harrowed. It's been cowritten by Jolene Haley and Brian LeTendre (another member of The Midnight Society!) Haven't heard about it? Here are the details: Journal[...]
