I LOVE movie trailers. My favorite part of going to the theater is seeing the previews, and as my family will tell you (much to their annoyance), I have to be in my seat before the previews even start, or the whole theater experience is ruined for me. Obviously, my favorite kind of trailers are horror movie trailers, and most of my all-time favorite horror flicks had me hyped for their release with a killer trailer. In this series, I’ll be looking back at some of my favorite trailers, and I’m starting with a classic–A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
What I love about this trailer is that it seemingly shows you nothing from the actual film, but still scares the crap out of you nonetheless. And that jump scare still works, 30+ years later. But the trailer does actually reveal something from the movie–the model house that we see Patricia Arquette’s Kristen Parker building in the intro of the movie. The house from her nightmares–1428 Elm Street. It also appears again later, but we don’t want to get into spoiler territory here.
If you haven’t seen it, Dream Warriors is definitely one of the best entries into the franchise, and is my third favorite, behind the original and New Nightmare. It also has a great soundtrack, led by Dokken’s excellent title track. You can watch that here, if you don’t mind seeing a few spoilers from the film.
