Keeping the Love Alive for Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Once upon a time, there was a girl who didn't like listening to podcasts. That is until her friends suggested some to her. So after being completely done with the current pop songs on the radio, this girl tried her first one. Now, she has found a new podcast to love...and it just so happens to be about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, that should be all the introduction this podcast needs, but just in case your interest isn't sparked quite yet, let me explain. Two really cool and smart chics, named Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo, review an entire episode o[...]

Welcome 2017!

2016 kicked my butt. Slayed me. And then at the end, I was revived. By a human. Sound like anyone else we know?? Come on, you know I had to reference Buffy. If I didn't, I wouldn't be me. 2017 will be different. I am back. I will do the slaying. So look the hell out. xoxo,  [...]

The Deadly Couples of BtVS

When we talk about undead couples quite a few come to mind, but you know my mind often wanders to anything Joss Whedon or BtVS related. I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about my favorite couples from Buffy. First there was Buffy and Angel. Now this romance was doomed from the beginning--a vampire with a soul, who is cursed to become a demon again if he ever experiences true happiness meets the vampire slayer of his dreams. And one romantic night turns everything to hell. Literally. http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/buffy-summers/images/32094812/title/angel-buffy-wall[...]

The Trio

The Trio, also known as Andrew Wells, Jonathan Levinson, and Warren Mears teamed up to take over Sunnydale. The Trio--as they became known--came together to create shrink rays, invisibility ray, prototype jet packs, and chicks chicks chicks. Iksnay on the urdervey (I may have this spelled entirely wrong, but originally Jonathan and Andrew are against killing Buffy). None are Jedi masters, but they do have certain abilities, like summoning demons and flying monkeys, creating an anatomically correct Buffy robot, and augment reality. Alone they may have gone unnot[...]

My Favorite Buffy Scene

Depending on the day, my favorite Buffy episode tends to change. Well, I can't help it. I love them all! But whenever I'm asked I DO have a special scene the I love. Sunnydale is about to be overrun by The First and all it's demons from hell. There's evil priest named Caleb (played by the fantastic Nathan Fillion) who wants Buffy d-e-a-d, dead. Spike has a soul and finally figures out his role in the whole end of the world thing. The slayer wanna-be's stage a coup, leaving Buffy on her own and Faith suddenly in charge. Xander walks around like a pirate, because[...]

Reclaim Horror: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

That's right, folks. The word "horror" is used 11 times in Wikipedia's Buffy the Vampire Slayer article, but IMDB calls it action, drama, and fantasy. Action Because Buffy contains both top-notch fight scenes and "ticking clock" scenarios, it can be portrayed as an action show. Drama Does Buffy tackle serious issues? Sure! Willow's coming out, Buffy getting played by a one-night stand, the death of loved ones, and the purpose of a soul are all among the situations that characters struggle with on the show. It's not devoid of comedy either. As with most of Jo[...]

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Anya

As I write this blog post, I'm again watching a Buffy episode. This totally normal and not out of character for me, but it definitely got me thinking. In each Buffy episode, there is a new kind of evil in Sunnydale. Many of the main characters have at one time allowed their evil side to shine through: Spike, Angel, Willow, and Anya just to name a few. Nothing beats a good ol' Vengeance Demon!   GIF Credit: http://www.snarksquad.com/2013/12/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-s07-e05-sometimes-it-bes-that-way.html Formally known as Aud of Sweden, Anya becomes a Ven[...]

This Year’s Girl

Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer celebrates the New Year in style--what with hunting and killing demons and all. Mix in a little of crazy Faith out of coma...and bang you have a terror-filled evening. Season 4 episode 15 opens with Buffy and Faith discussing the fresh smell of clean sheets. Because that's exactly what you'd do with Adam on the loose and Riley hidden away by the Initiative. Let me be frank with you. I'm not a complete fan of the Buffy episodes with Riley as her boyfriend. Yeah, I know that her love of Riley made her more human, but Buffy is suppose[...]
